Spotlight - The Importance of Test Management
We thought it was about time we highlighted one of the perhaps lesser known, yet absolutely vital roles in project teams, that of the Test Manager.
Test Manager is a role that is often taken for granted and doesn’t receive the recognition and praise of some of the more ‘high-profile’ roles. However, the reality is that without a decent Test Manager most digital transformation projects would fail.
Put very simply test managers are responsible for testing the functionality and usability of digital products before they’re launched. In reality their role involves far more than what most people would consider to be the remit of ‘testing’.
The image shows the vast and unique range of skills a Test Manager brings to a project and highlights just how much of an impact they can have on its’ success and output quality.
Gordon Watson is one of The Evolution Group’s Senior Consultants with a huge depth of Test Manager experience and when asked what he enjoyed about the role he replied, ‘The problem solving and resolution of issues is an aspect of the job that I thrive on. When I hear people say, ‘that can’t be done’ I see it as a challenge and set about finding ‘how can we do it? I strive to ensure every project I’m involved in is completed within budget and to the highest quality possible, and will ensure every opportunity for improvement is looked at’.
We think his answer nicely sums up the value of a good Test Manager!
